Sepoy Suraj Singh Topal

Sepoy Suraj Singh Topal (25) hailed from Falota village in Uttrakhand. He was the only brother of four sisters, his father Narayan Singh was a also a former soldier . Suraj Singh Topal had joined the Indian Army in 2012.


Pulwama encounter : 02 Nov 2017


On 2nd November 2017 an encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces had launched a search and cordon operation in the Samboora village of Pampore area in the evening following information about the presence of the militants  there. As the security forces were conducting the searches, militants opened fire and a gunbattle ensued as the forces retaliated. Sepoy Suraj Singh Topal  received fatal gunshots during the operation and succumbed to them. India lost another Braveheart in the highest tradition of Indian Army.


Sepoy Suraj Singh Topal is survived by his parents Narayan Singh and Vimla Devi and four sisters.
