Sepoy Mustapure Shubham Suryakant was born on 22 jul 1997 and hailed from Konarwadi village in the Parbhani District of Maharashtra. Son of Shri Suryakant Ravsaheb Mustapure and Smt Sunita Suryakant Mustapure,  Sepoy Mustapure did his primary education from Yashvant Vidyalaya at Ahmadpur and later  from Swami Vivekanand Chatori. He joined the Indian Army on 22nd Sept 2016 at the age of 19 years. He was recruited into 4 MLI battalion of the famed Maratha Light Infantry Regiment, an Infantry regiment known for its courageous soldiers and various battle and theater honours.

Sepoy Mustapure was inclined to join the Armed Forces since his childhood and kept working towards it. On joining the army, Sepoy Mustapure was so happy that he treated the entire village a grand feast to celebrate his success. However, the life of this young soldier was cut short in April 2018 during cross border fire exchange as a result of unprovoked firing across the border.

LOC Firing(Krishna Ghati Sector): 03 Apr 2018

During 2018 Sepoy Shubham’s unit was deployed in J&K along the LOC. India shares a 3,323-km border with Pakistan, of which 221 km of the IB and 740 km of the LOC fall in Jammu and Kashmir. The LOC is highly active and volatile where ceasefire violations occur very often and without any warning. The Krishna Ghati Sector in Poonch district of Jammu & Kashmir is the part of LOC that bears a significant number of ceasefire violations every year. During April 2018, Sepoy Mustapure Shubham Suryakant’s unit was deployed in this sector and the troops of 4 MLI were manning various forward posts along the LOC.

On 3rd April 2018 Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire in Krishnaghati Sector and started heavy mortar shelling on Indian Army Posts. Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing from 7 am using small arms, automatic weapons and mortar shells.  Indian Army retaliated strongly, effectively and proportionately to the unprovoked ceasefire violation and the exchange of fire continued for several hours. During the heavy exchange of fire, Sepoy Mustapure Shubham Suryakant got severely injured along with four other soldiers. Sep Mustapure was rushed to the nearby army hospital but he succumbed to his injuries and was martyred. Sep Mustapure was a disciplined and committed soldier who laid down his life at the age of 21 years in the service of the nation.

Sepoy Mustapure Shubham Suryakant is survived by his father Shri  Suryakant Ravsaheb Mustapure, mother Smt  Sunita Suryakant Mustapure  and brothers  Shri Shivam Suryakant Mustapure & Shri Om Suryakant Mustapure.
