Sepoy Dhondiba Desai hailed from Vadagaun village of Belgaum district of Karnataka. Sep Dhondiba Desai was eldest among the three siblings, he had a younger brother and sister, he was the first person who joined army in his family. Sepoy Dhondiba Desai aged about 22 years belonged to 8 Madras of The madras Regiment. After he joined the army he was very sincere and brave at his work and besides with work, he used to help his family. Such as his brother’s education and he bought a land by his earnings to his family, because earlier the land which they were staying was meagre holding for a large family to eke a living from.
Kargil war (Mine blast) : 25 May 1999
During 1999, there were many wars being happened and at that time the 8th Battalion of Madras Regiment was posted to Kargil of Jammu & Kashmir. On May 25th , when these army troops were on the regular duty at J&K , there was unexpected mine blast was exploded. In this mine blast Sepoy Dhondiba Desai was severely injured and lost his life. Sepoy Dhondiba Desai made supreme sacrifice for the nation.
Sepoy Dhondiba Desai is survived by his brother and sister.
