Rifleman Paokholet Baite belonged to troop of 24 Assam Rifles. When the troop of Assam rifle was patrolling the area between Kwatha and Satang on 25 October 2015 came under heavy fire, Rifleman Paokholet Baite leading the patrol took the brunt of the fire on his body to save his comrades. The brave soldier kept firing on the insurgents despite being hit by multiple gunshots forcing the anti-national elements to flee in haste. This gave opportunity to the other soldiers to take tactical positions preventing further casualties. There were no injuries to any of the Assam Rifles troops because of the instant counter action of the troop.
He was awarded sena medal posthumously for his bravery and exceptional leadership in August 2016.
