Naik Bharat Baban Maske SM

Naik Bharat Baban Maske was born on 18th February 1972  in Belgaum district of Karnataka. After his initial studies he joined Indian army and was inducted into Maratha Light Infantry on  27th August 1990. Naik Maske was married to Lakshmi and they had two sons. Naik Maske took part in  Kargil war of 1999. He was a very disciplined and motivated soldier. His influence on his elder son has made him also to aspire a career in armed forces like his father.

 

Pung Sector: 20 July 1999

 

On Jul 20, 1999 Naik Bharath Baban Maske’s unit was deployed in the Pung sector. The unit  received  information about the presence of militants  hiding inside the caves in that particular area. A search operation was launched by the unit immediately and  Naik Bharat Baban Maske was part of the team. After reaching the site and assessing the site he decided to lob a grenade inside the cave where the militants were hiding. The militants started firing on the search team; in the ensuing gun battle Naik Bharat Baban Maske received shot on his head. The gun shot injured him severely and he finally succumbed to the injuries.

 

Naik Bharat Baban Maske was a true soldier who laid down his life in the service of the nation. For his gallant act he was awarded Sena Medal Posthumously.

 

Naik Bharat Baban Maske is survived by his wife Lakshmi Maske and his  two sons.
