Indo-Pak War : 26 Sep 1965

Though India occupied the strategic Haji Pir pass located south of Uri and about 8 Km from the cease fire line, on 28 Aug 1985, the fuil scale war broke out on 01 Sep 1965. On that day Pakistan invaded Chamb district in J & K, triggering one of the largest armoured and infantry battles, and a series of daring and bloody operations. The cease fire resolution adopted by the security council finally came into effect on 23 Sep 1965, but the skirmishes still continued on various fronts.

On 26 Sep 1965, in one such battle Lt P K Singh got severely injured and was martyred.
