Lance NaiK Mohammed Naseer

Lance Naik Mohammed Naseer hailed from Ajout village in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Son of Shri Mohammad Razak, Lance Naik Mohammed Naseer belonged to 15 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry and was serving in the Rajouri sector of J & K during 2017.


Cross Border Firing: Rajouri Sector (15 July 2017)


During 15 July 2017 L/Nk Mohammed Naseer’s unit 15 JAK LI was deployed in Rajouri Sector of Poonch district. That day L/Nk Mohammed Naseer was manning the forward post of LoC in the Poonch sector. Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked firing on Indian Army posts in the Rajouri sector in Poonch district at around 1330 hours. Pakistani firing and shelling covered Balakote, Panjgrian, Naika and Manjakote areas along the LOC in Rajouri sector.


The Army retaliated the unprovoked firing in a befitting manner and the exchange of fire continued for several hours. However, during this exchange of fire one mortar shell landed near to L/Nk Mohammed Naseer and he got injured critically. L/Nk Mohammed Naseer was shifted to the nearby hospital after administering the first aid. However, he later succumbed to his injuries and was martyred. Lance Naik Mohammed Naseer was a brave and committed soldier who laid down his life in the service of the nation. The nation will always remain indebted to him for his supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty.


Lance Naik Mohammed Naseer is survived by his wife Wasim Akhtar and three children.
